KWIK TRIP LITTLE RIPPERS KIDS RACE
Join us for the Kwik Trip Little Rippers Kids Race at Copper Peak Trails Fest. This fun, untimed race for kids 12 and under will take place on some of our easier section of trail on the lower section of Copper Peak but still have just enough challenge for those Little Rippers! All kids will receive a race t-shirt and a goodie bag courtesy of Kwik Trip.

When?
The Kwik Trip Little Rippers Kids Race will take place at 10:30am on Saturday, September 9, 2023. This runs between the Trail Run and the XC Mountain Bike Race at Copper Peak Trails Fest.
Where?
All races take place at Copper Peak with the start and finish in the parking lot area near the chalet at the base of the hill. The kids race portion only takes place on the lower portion of trails and does not climb to the top of the hill.

Who Can Enter?
The Kwik Trip Little Rippers Kids Race is open to all kids 12 and under. All abilities of riders are welcome and parents are welcome to ride along with their children. We will have a short and a long course, described below, for different ages and abilities. This is an untimed race and the goal is to have fun.
What kind of bike should my child have?
We recommend a mountain bike for the races, however, most kids bikes will be fine especially on the 1-mile course. This is a dirt course and there will be some rocks and roots and short climbs so it is possible your child may need to get off of the bike but there are no large obstacles. The short course can even be done on a Strider bike.
Prizes/Awards
This is an untimed race and the goal is to have fun. There will be no places or awards for who finishes first. Kids may start the race in groups based upon age, but this does not mean that there are age group finishers.
All kids will receive:
- A Kwik Trip Little Rippers T-Shirt
- A goodie bag provided by Kwik Trip
- A Copper Peak Trails Fest Medal hand made by Candace Jacobs Pottery
Race Course
The race will start and finish in the Copper Peak parking area at the base of the jump. This is the same spot as our main races start and finish. Races will proceed from the start/finish line down the lower river trail and finish coming back up the same trail in the opposite direction back to the start/finish line.
There will be two distances children will be able to ride. You do not need to choose prior to the race. Children doing the long race will start in front of children doing the short race. See the race courses below.
Volunteers will be positioned on the race courses at key points and intersections to help guide children through the course. Other areas of the course will be clearly marked and easy to follow.
1-Mile Short Race
A short race of approximately 1-mile will be an option for younger or less experienced riders. The course will run down the main trail to the river and then cut over to the “Beginner Trail” and through a field back to the main trail up to the finish.
1.8-Mile Long Race
The long race option will be approximately 1.8 miles. This will proceed down the main trail to the river turning onto the “beginner trail”. Before the trail gets to the road, it will branch off into a field and connect back to the main trail and up to the finish.
