COPPER PEAK

Located at the site of the largest ski jump in the Western Hemisphere, the Copper Peak Trails are the gem of Gogebic Range Mountain Biking. The trail winds down to the banks of the Black River then climbs up nearly 500 feet of vertical to the summit of Copper Peak where you will be greeted the the ski jump. From here you have an amazing view overlooking the whole Ironwood area. Be sure to come out in the fall for some of the best fall color scenes you will ever see. From the top you can choose two downhill options that include fun flow sections, drops and features, a bridge, and tons of stoke.

What to do near here…

While you are there, be sure to stop in the chalet gift shop and pick up some Copper Peak gear as well as get your ticket to the Adventure Ride which allows you to go right to the top of the ski jump for a view that can allow you to see across Lake Superior as far as to Northern Minnesota and Canada on clear days. If you venture north from Copper Peak on Black River Road you will find the Black River Harbor park, beach, and campground, 5 different waterfalls with easy to access paths, and trailheads for hiking along the North Country Trail.

Future Plans

Copper Peak is currently planned to add more trail, including up to two downhill sections starting in fall of 2023.
